For any business, monitoring your subscriber activity is an essential part of monitoring trends and making informed future decisions. Below are 5 useful features within your Sign-Up.to account which will allow you to closely examine your subscriber’s activity.

1. What links are your subscribers clicking?
Most emails contain links – normally to your company’s website. Within Sign-Up.to you can track which links have been clicked, how many times and by who. This can help you both assess subscriber trends and target subscribers who have clicked specific links. For example, if you’re trying to promote a specific product you’ll be able to target those subscribers who have shown an interest in the product by clicking the website link.

Facebook’s improved analytics launched!

On Monday 7th June, Facebook launched a new insights dashboard, designed to give analytics for websites, applications and Facebook pages. The dashboard has been designed to give more information than previously available, with Facebook developer Alex Himel explaining that we’re now being provided with even better metrics. (more…)

Permission vs. Spam

There’s one thing that separates great email marketing from spam. Permission. It’s the vital ingredient to any email marketing program and the principles of permission marketing are at the core of our business.

Did you know that we have an automated spam feedback loop with major ISPs such as Hotmail and AOL, and that we also receive automated updates from spam reporting services such as Spamcop? Additionally, our abuse.reports@sign-up.to address is circulated and made available on various web sites and DNS records to ensure we receive reports of any unsolicited email being sent through our systems.

Facebook’s privacy changes – updated

Since last week’s post about Facebook’s privacy changes, the social network website has remained a prominent news story. Facebook have announced that the privacy options available to users will be made easier and placed on one page, as predicted. In a post on Facebook yesterday, Mark Zuckerberg talked about the evolvement of Facebook before announcing it was time to make ‘information control’ easier.

The number one thing we’ve heard is that there just needs to be a simpler way to control your information. We’ve always offered a lot of controls, but if you find them too hard to use then you won’t feel like you have control.

AOL’s spring cleaning means more efficient email marketing for you

What has happened?

AOL have this week closed down a large number of disused email accounts. As is common with any free and popular service, over the course of time a significant proportion of accounts opened fall into disuse; as people’s ISP or other preferences change, they may start using another mail provider and stop checking their AOL account. As per their terms of service, AOL may close accounts not accessed for 30 days. While that could be perceived as being a bit too keen, reports have certainly been coming in of AOL accounts that haven’t been used for a couple of months or so being closed.

Facebook’s privacy changes

In recent days there has been a heightened level of articles surrounding the privacy options available to Facebook users. The BBC reported that Facebook is now likely to cave into pressure from users to simplify the settings which allow users to ensure their details are kept private.

This issue began when Facebook opened up data to third party websites which Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, stated was a move towards “a web where the default is social”. The Telegraph reported that the European Commission heavily criticised this move. (more…)

For anyone that’s ever sent an email, I’m sure you’ve been left with that “did they receive my email?” feeling. For businesses, it’s vital that customers and potential customers receive those emails, but how can you be sure your deliverability will be 100%? Within Sign-Up.to, there are lots of tools and tips we offer to our customers to ensure you get the best results possible as soon as you hit that all important send button.

Firstly, within Create we offer a check campaign report, which analyses your email campaign for common mistakes and triggers commonly used by spam filters. The check campaign report offers a spam score and as well as this, checks that links and images work as you intend them to. We recommend regular use of this function, and in turn it’ll give you confidence that your email is received and viewed as it should be. We always recommend previewing a campaign before sending it, and this function will allow you to make quick and small revisions, which could make a big difference.

Time to make your emails personal

Let’s face it: we probably receive more emails than we’d like to. For this very reason, it’s becoming more and more important for the sender to grab the subscriber’s attention, hold their attention and ultimately, form a relationship with their potential customers. That’s why at Sign-Up.to we encourage our clients to gain as much subscriber information as possible.

Everyone receives emails that start with “Dear customer” or likewise, but where’s the thought in that? When you collect subscriber information, why not ensure you collect your subscriber’s name? The benefit of doing this is that you can start your emails with a “Hello” followed by their name. From our experience, this is a great way of grabbing your subscriber’s initial attention.
